PS3 VS XBOX 360 – Exclusive Games for 2008!

The reign of the Xbox is fast coming to an end. The PS3 has been getting better and better over the last few months. 2008 looks like the year for the PlayStation. PlayStation 3 will release many top-name titles this year. If all of the games on the list are actually released this year, we can only say WOW. Not all exclusive titles will be available on each console. It does give us an idea of what games are expected to be released in the coming year.

Resistance 2 (PS3)

Guaranteed success. Although the first game was a huge success and a major hit, it was only a launch title. Imagine what they could do with a few years and more games. 8 player co-op This game promises big things.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (PS3)

Another sure-fire way to succeed. Gran Turismo is a game that anyone can play. Gran Turismo is a favorite game. HD replays are a great way to enjoy the visuals.

Haze (PS3)

It’s hoped that the game will end its long-running delays. The game promises intense action with 4-player co-op and drop-in/drop-out as well as split-screen, online, and local multiplayer options. This game continues to impress visually with its high-quality graphics and unique design elements.

Metal Gear Solid 4 – Guns of the Patriots (PS3)

This game is a must-see for anyone who doesn’t already know. It is still months away, but the game is already amazing. Solid Snake, young or old, is the only game that could live up to all of the hype surrounding this game. The visuals are stunning, as with many other games on this list. It seems to have a lot of story and gameplay. There are a lot of weapons and stealth/combat moves in the game. This game is almost mandatory if you have a PS3. You already know that you will. SOCOM: Confrontation

Few details have been revealed about this title as it is still early. The game supports up to 32 online players. The game will feature customizable weapons similar to SOCOM 3. Online multiplayer will also be the main focus, just like previous SOCOM games. This one is expected to follow the Warhawk model, with online multiplayer only possible using a bluetooth headset. The original SOCOM pioneered headset use on consoles.

LittleBigPlanet (PS3)

This is one of the most anticipated, innovative, and cute games of the year. Little Big Planet looks to expand the PS3 audience with this “build-your-own-game” game. This game is great, Nintendo Miis! It is amazing at the level of creativity that it allows. You can also play with four other players in co-op or against. It’s also kid-friendly without being too cute.

God of War III (PS3)

The PS2 was released with a bang, though it’s still hanging on there, with the original God of War and the sequel, which is still on the aging console. Many have waited for the next-gen God of War experience. 2008 may be their year. We don’t know much yet. However, David Jaffe (the games creator) has resigned from the series.

Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) – Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)

Either you are a fan or not. But you have to acknowledge the magnitude of Final Fantasy. With every new release, the games set new standards in graphics. Next year’s XIII will build on that reputation. They are not only improving the visual and storytelling aspects of the game but they are also overhauling the combat. Final Fantasy XIII’s combat promises to speed up and intensify battles.

MotorStorm 2(PS3) [Teaser Trailer]

MotorStorm 2 is another sequel to an exclusive PS3 title. Although the trailer doesn’t reveal much, it seems like they are setting yet another high standard with pre-rendered graphics. While the original was great, I think the video they released a year ago looked ten times better. This was one of the most beautiful racers we have seen in a while. We’ll be seeing how the sequel compares with Gran Turismo 5 HD later in the year. Some of the improvements include new cars/trucks/motorcycles, tracks, and best of all, a much needed 4-player split-screen mode. It is also expected to offer 16-player online support.

Killzone 2 (PS3)

Video and screenshots show how great the game looks in action. What about the gameplay? Although the original was not praised by many critics, I enjoyed it (minus the numerous glitches). It wasn’t quite the “Halo Killer”, as it was marketed. In such a competitive shooter market, the sequel will need to prove its worth. Guerrilla Games has not revealed any details about the gameplay. Are you looking for co-op, multiplayer or customization? It does look great though. We’ll have to wait to see.

XBOX 360

Ninja Gaiden II (360)

We’re finally here, the Xbox 360. I was so excited to see it. Ninja Gaiden II promises to build on the success of the original. There will be more action, more bad guys and more blood, plus more speed. Creators of the game have addressed some of the difficulties that people had with previous games. They have stated that they won’t dumb it down and will change the controls to make it easier for newcomers. To keep things fresh, they’re adding new weapons and animations to the game.
